Building Communities

Obsidian’s “Young Leader’s Program” provides the opportunity for those who have been “left behind” to find a community, brotherhood, father figures and build their confidence in the correct foundations and morals.

“Young men need communities of other men to develop a sense of identity, purpose, and camaraderie. Such communities provide crucial support and mentorship, helping young men navigate the challenges of life and become responsible, competent adults.”

– Jordan Peterson. Author, psychologist and Professor Emeritus at the University of Toronto

The practice and culture of Jiu Jitsu provides a unique medium for men to bond. The study, training and the act of fighting in a safe and controlled manner helps men connect in a way unlike any other cultural pass-time. Through Jiu Jitsu we help young men bond, share, connect and build communities.

Ambassadors and Partners

Obsidian Ambassadors

The Obsidian Ambassador and Partner Programs carefully select a handful of Obsidian Ambassadors who can represent the organisation, its principles and purpose to those outside the community. Identifying others in need, Ambassadors help bring forth those of potential that are in need of a community.

Obsidian Partners

Jiu Jitsu Academies commit to become an Obsidian Partner and allocate time and resources to support young men who would benefit from a community and a brotherhood. The Partner Program facilitates academies to easily and without any significant cost give back to their community in return to receiving promotion, recognition of their good-will and support.

In addition, occasional Affiliates will be engaged in seminars of well-known athletes, business and political leaders from different walks of life to deliver training combined with life-skill development.

Thought and Content

Produced media from such events and other activities will be distributed via Instagram and YouTube to inspire, educate, provide awareness and build leadership capabilities in a demographic of young men ranging 10-25 years old.

Produced content will call for other Jiu Jitsu academies and athletes to follow the Obsidian program, serving their communities and members.

“17 year olds can’t lead boys anywhere, except into trouble …. adolescent boys need plenty of male support other than their fathers”

 –  Stephen Biddulph, “Raising Boys” 1997 , bets selling author and psychologist.

“For young men, the presence of a community of peers is essential. It provides them with role models, a sense of belonging, and a framework within which they can safely…  develop their strengths.”

— Dr. Niobe Way, Professor of Applied Psychology at NYU

Thought Leadership

Obsidian and partners provide variety of talks, Jiu Jitsu seminars and media content in academies, schools, or universities teaching young men values, ethics, morals and providing them with tools and support to help shape their mindset, attitude and establishing foundation of younger and future generations.
